Zeppos College is located on the corner of West End Avenue and 25th Avenue South. Nicholas S. Zeppos College provides state-of-the-art accommodations inside gothic-style architecture.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas S. Zeppos College houses 335 upper-division students in four-person suites, traditional double rooms, and traditional single rooms. Corridors and common areas are carpeted. Student rooms have hard surface flooring.<\/p>\n<p>Notable spaces include a state-of-the-art dining hall, great room, study lounges and other event spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas S. Zeppos College is led by a Faculty Head of College, who resides in an apartment on the first floor. The Faculty Head works closely with Residential Colleges staff and the College Programming and Advisory Councils to encourage the living and learning outside of the classroom. The residents are also supported by an Area Coordinator, Head Residents, and Resident Advisers who all live in the college.<\/p>\n<p>The college in named in honor of Nicholas S. Zeppos, who served as the university\u2019s eighth Chancellor.\u00a0 Zeppos College is comprised of two halls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mosig Hall<\/strong> is named in honor of Dr. Gisela Mosig, a pioneering genetic researcher and distinguished faculty member. Born in the Saxony region of Germany, Dr. Mosig grew up on a farm, where she first became interested in biology and genetics.\u00a0 One of the few women scientists of her era in molecular biology, she blazed the trail for others who followed. Dr. Mosig was a professor in 91ºÚÁÏÍø\u2019s Department of Molecular Biology, now known as the Department of Biological Sciences.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wallace Hall<\/strong> is named in honor of 91ºÚÁÏÍø Distinguished Alumnus, Perry Eugene Wallace, Jr., BE \u201970, who displayed extraordinary courage, determination and grace while facing resistance and violent threats as the first African American varsity basketball player in the Southeastern Conference.
