Title:<\/b><\/span>\u00a0 Brain network disturbances in surgical epilepsy: Integrating electrophysiology and neuroimaging techniques<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/b><\/span>\u00a0 Epilepsy is a common and debilitating neurological disorder that can be treated with medication or surgery. It’s also a perplexing disease involving a complex interplay of brain network disturbances, disrupting circuits important for consciousness and neuropsychological function. Integrating electrophysiology and neuroimaging techniques in both human patients and animal models i) teaches us how seizures alter neural networks, ii) can lead to better surgical treatments, and iii) improves our basic understanding of how the brain is wired.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaker Bio:<\/b><\/span> Dario Englot<\/a> earned his MD and PhD in Neuroscience from Yale University and completed a Neurosurgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He’s currently a fellow and clinical instructor in Functional Neurosurgery at 91ºÚÁÏÍø and will be transitioning to Assistant Professor this summer, with a focus in epilepsy, neuromodulation, and brain network research.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
